Chirnajivi Yojana.
The Health & Family Welfare Department has initiated a scheme involving private sector specialists in providing services related to safe delivery, primarily for socio economically weaker sections. The Scheme is called the Chiranjivi Yojana. The scheme was launched on pilot basis in December 2005. In the initial stage, this scheme is made operational in five most under served, tribal, desert and bordering districts i.e. Kutch, Banaskanta, Sabarkanta, Panchamahals and Dahod as a pilot project in the State. The beneficiaries are the mothers from BPL and APL (ST Who do not pay income tax).

The Obstetricians are paid Rs. 1, 79,500/- for a package of 100 deliveries (@ Rs. 1795/- per delivery). The package of 100 deliveries includes normal and complicated deliveries and also cesarean section operations. The beneficiary has not to pay any type of charges related to delivery, medicine, anesthesia, laboratory investigations or operation. The package also includes Rs. 200/- for transportation of the pregnant mother and Rs. 50/- for the TBA or the person escorting the pregnant lady. If the enrolled Private Gynecologist offers his/her services in the Government Hospital, Rs. 65,900/- (Rs. 659/- per delivery) receivable for 100 deliveries (normal and/or complicated) performed.

The scheme was introduce in 2005-06 and 7793 deliveries registered in Chiranjivi Yojana. For the last year 2008-09 135706 and current year 85836 deliveries registered which shows high rise in Chiranjivi Yojana. The year wise performance of Chiranjivi Yojna is as under.

Bal Sakha Scheme:
Under this scheme, all babies born to BPL mothers in the State (approximately 3,00,000 births per annum) will be covered for neonatal care by partnering pediatricians, including care in their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (level 2 ) at no cost to the beneficiary. After initialization and stabilization of the Scheme, the Scheme may be extended to cover all infants upto one year age.Up to October -09 284 private pediatricians are enrolled and 31151 new bron attended under Bal Sakha yojana .

Janni Suraksha Yojna:
This scheme is implemented from Dec-2005.The benefit of this scheme is given those pregnant women who are from BPL families and completed 19 years.This benefit is entitled for only two Live births.If Delivery conducted in Govt.or Private Hosp., pregnant women of rural area will be paid Rs/-500 in cash and Rs/-200 for transportation charges .If it is home delivery pregnant women will get the sum of Rs/-500 for supplementary nutrition.

During the year 2008-09, 213391 pregnant women are benefited under the scheme.During the year 2009-10 (up to Oct-09) 172351 pregnant women are benefited under the scheme.
